Try shooting just before sunset from Apgar boat ramp. Provides view up Lake McDonald toward the peaks.
Sawtooths
From Alturas Lake (first picnic area), hike east along river and look for shots towards Lake Perkins. This is an afternoon shot. May be affected by diseased trees.
Yellowstone
Afternoon shot along the north shore of Yellowstone Lake and looking toward peaks.
Be sure to drive the Beartooth Highway on a clear day! Good loop back through Cody, but very long day.
Tetons
Final week of September is definitely peak color around Oxbow Bend. Elk rut was concentrated more in the 3rd week of September.
