Today is our last full day in Ashland, so we started packing everything up. We packed a bunch of stuff to leave at Matt & Jackie's, so we won't have to haul it with us for the next month. Carol decided she didn't need the formal dresses for our beach parties.
We drove back into Ashland to photograph the Winchester House. It is actually 3 Victorian houses that were renovated to be a bed and breakfast and restaurant. The old houses were amazing, and the grounds were full of flowers. I could spend a couple days photographing the old homes in Ashland. They have a style all their own, and the owners obviously take great pride in their yards. With all the rain, it looks like they could stick any kind of bush or tree in the ground and it would grow. I'm afraid Southern California is going to look awfully barren after seeing all the trees here.

Matt and Jackie had an afternoon BBQ at their home for everyone that was still in town. It was a chance to relax in comfortable clothes and get to know Jackie's family. Most of them are from Pennsylvania, and they are very nice people. It's great to see a family that genuinely likes to spend time together and looks forward to the next family event. As they were preparing to leave, they were speculation on who would have the next wedding.
Kim, Jeff, and Hal had to make early departures from the BBQ because they had long drives ahead. Hal was returning to San Diego, and Kim and Jeff were visiting friends in Napa.
