2014 Washington Trip

Tuesday, August 5

Today was a lost day. We didn't want to drive anywhere and put any stress on the window until we were ready to drive down to Morton to get it fixed. The part didn't arrive until early afternoon, so we were stuck in camp.

At 1:30, we drove down the mountain about 30 miles to Morton. This is a tiny little lumber town, so we felt very fortunate they had a Ford dealer. The people at Van Cleave Ford were great and had it fixed in about 30 minutes. We walked over to Cody's Cafe to get lunch, and the Explorer was fixed before we finished lunch. We picked up some groceries while we were in town and drove back up to camp.

We had a big day of hiking planned for tomorrow, so we decided not to go out and shoot tonight. Instead, we watched Pompeii, which seemed appropriate since we are camping on the flanks of an active composite volcano very much like Vesuvius.
