Socked In
Today was supposed to be our big hiking day to the Wings Section at Bisti Wilderness. The completely overcast skies changed our plans. We weren't going to do such a challenging hike unless there would be good lighting for photographing.
We ended up staying in camp all day and enjoyed the extra time to make some of our better meals. Today was a grilling day.
As sunset approached, we looked out our windows to the West and saw a fabulous sunset. The clouds had thinned out just enough to make a great sunset. Unfortunately, we completely missed any opportunity to photograph it. The worst thing about Farmington is that it's 40 miles to any place we want to photograph and then a 2 mile hike to get to a location to shoot. There are no places where we can just jump in the Explorer and drive a few minutes to someplace we can photograph. Every photo outing is an excursion.
