2016 Morro Bay Trip

June 17 - 18

Friday

What was supposed to be a simple drive south to the Ventura Beach RV Park got a little more exciting. Yesterday afternoon, a wildfire started near El Capitan State Beach. Highway 101 was either partially or completely closed most of the afternoon. That was our only route south without having to go a hundred miles out of our way. When we checked SigAlert.com this morning, everything was green so we drove south and reached Ventura without any delays. We were lucky. The fire flared up again tonight and is causing all kinds of problems.

We added a day in Ventura so we could see Carol's Aunt Anne, her cousin Karen, and Karen's husband Larry. We picked up Aunt Ann and met Karen and Larry for an Italian dinner in Thousand Oaks. It was a beautiful summer's night, and the food was great! We don't get up to this area very often, so it was a real treat to see Carol's family. That's "lots of good food" #4.

Our trip was a huge success when it came to "lots of good food."

Saturday

On Saturday, we cruised home and then had the fun of cleaning everything up and putting it away. Trips are fun. The clean-up...not so much.
