2016 New Mexico & Utah Trip

Tuesday, September 20

Today was a recovery day. The ugly gray skies together with our matching blisters made it an easy decision to take the day off.

We took showers in real, full-sized showers, straightened up the motorhome, backed up files, and developed images. Our plans to drive up to Mesa Verde this week were dashed with the prediction of at least two days of rain there. We're hoping for a break tomorrow before we get two days of rain here. Towering thunderheads can be a great background for badlands images, but hiking two miles from the protection of the Explorer to get those images can be a problem--and potentially dangerous in a lightening storm.

Rain is gently plinking on our roof, and we can smell the fresh rain. The chances of good weather to hike tomorrow aren't looking very good.

It's not supposed to rain here yet. We still have areas we haven't photograped!
