Sunrise

Shawn and his family will be joining us later this afternoon, so we kept our forays into the park relatively close to the campground. Our first stop was sunrise at Schwabachers Landing, my favorite sunrise location. We joined a small group of other photographers dressed for the cool morning. A family of ducks with 8 ducklings entertained us while we waited for the sunrise. The sun did its part and lit the scene. The beaver pond did its part and created perfect reflections. But the sky was a boring, flat blue. Within five minutes of sunrise, most of the photographers were gone. We stayed for a little while to enjoy the ducklings and the scenic view.

On our way back to camp, we photographed a female grizzly and her two cubs near Pilgrim Creek. She stayed mostly around the fringe of the sagebrush flats. We caught her out in the open a few times, but her cubs were too small to show above the sage.

After Shawn and his family arrived and got all set up, we drove down to the beach at Colter Bay. It was a beautiful, calm evening with perfect reflections in the lake.
