We packed nearly everything for the trip on Friday because we knew we would be gone all day on Saturday to celebrate Josephine's first birthday. For missing nearly all of her naps, Josephine did great. She got enough new clothes to have her Stylin' all next year.
We packed our clothes and toiletries this morning and set off for our favorite Best Western in Visalia. After 4 hours of driving yesterday and then another 5 1/2 hours today, we figured Visalia was far enough for the first day. We had smooth sailing except for an hour around L. A., and Ruby (our new ruby red Explorer) lived up to her MPG estimates.
We followed our tradition of KFC in Visalia and then enjoyed a relaxing evening watching TV.
