We drove the final 300 miles down the Central Valley, over the Grapevine, through Los Angeles, and back to La Mesa without any challenges. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Panda Inn in Ontario. It was not only the halfway point and a great place for a break, but Panda Inn is our favorite Chinese Restaurant. The Panda Inn in San Diego closed a few years ago, so we plan our trips that go north or south on I-5 to include a stop at Panda Inn.
Epilogue
This year's trip was evenly split between mountains with waterfalls and the Oregon Coast. The days of rain made the sunny days seem even more spectacular.
We started the trip with waterfalls running full along the Umpqua and McKenzie Rivers, and we found a new favorite place to shoot at Smith Rock State Park. We loved the time we had with Matt, Jackie, Jayden, and Kira in Portland. The only problem was that it went too fast.
The second half of the trip followed the Oregon Coast from Cannon Beach to the California state line. Harris Beach was the new coastal addition this year, and it rewarded us with two spectacular sunsets. It was a great place to end the coastal portion of the trip.
