Eugene to Silver Falls

We only had 77 miles to Silver Falls today, so we slept in and had a relaxing morning. It was overcast but dry as we drove east toward Silver Falls State Park. We took the back-road, scenic route to Silver Falls. The road was narrow with lots of curves as it meandered its way around the hills and through the farms.

When we arrived at Silver Falls, we checked at the campground and our campsite was vacant so we moved in. Everything was very muddy, so I'm assuming it must have rained last night. It was still completely overcast, but at least it was dry. We got everything set up and had lunch.

In the late afternoon, we drove down to the South Falls area, which is the main visitor area for the park. It's also our favorite area to photograph. Although the conditions weren't great, we walked over to South Falls and shot the waterfall from the main trail before hiking down to the bridge at the base of the falls. It served as a review of our photographing routine. We haven't shot much in the past six months, and it showed. It was downright embarrassing at times. Hopefully, we worked out all the kinks today so we can shoot more efficiently the rest of the trip. Now, we need to get all of our lenses and equipment organized in our packs.
