We stayed in camp today and recovered from yesterday's hike. Because this trip was Plan B, there are still a lot of details to work out. One of those details is how to get to the Alien Throne at Ah-shi-sle-pah. Yesterday, we went to a relatively easy section of Ah-shi-sle-pah because it was off a "main road." The Alien Throne doesn't seem to be near any major road. The information seems very sketchy. I spent most of the day with Google Earth and the Internet to create the routes to get to the general area and then created hiking tracks to reach the Alien Throne. Then I converted the data to the correct format, and loaded all the data on our two GPS units. It's great to have all these resources, but it also means spending a lot of time with a computer, 3 or 4 types of software, and several electronic devices. I think we'll wait until next week to go to the Alien Throne in hopes that a weekend could bring other people to the area. This is one time I'd like to have other people around to make it easier to find.
One of the good things about all the new technology is that I got to watch the end of the Nebraska-Oregon game on my computer. I was pleasantly surprised to see Nebraska beat Oregon. It's been a long time since Nebraska had a good football team. Maybe, they'll have a better year this year.
