Camp Day

Today was a camp day. We didn't get to bed until 2:30 this morning after our night photography quest to Reflection Lake. We chose not to set any alarms and slept in. Since it was a weekend, that meant that we couldn't go to any of the major tourist areas of the park because they would be packed and parking would be impossible.

We did our maintenance chores around the motorhome, which included driving down to the dump station to dump our tanks and get fresh water. It's always a hassle because we have to pack everything up, bring the slides in, and then drive down to the dump station. When we're finished, we have to drive back to our campsite and set everything up again. I'm glad we have full hook-ups for the next three weeks after Mt. Rainier.

Shortly after we returned to our campsite, a guy knocked at our door and told us he thought we were in his campsite. We figured out that his reservation was for C032 and our campsite was C023. As we talked, he told us he waited in line for an hour-and-a-half to enter the park. When he asked the ranger if this was normal, the ranger said it was normal on weekends. 90 minutes waiting in line would be painful. No wonder he got the numbers for the campsites mixed up.

We drove the roads in the early evening trying to find something to photograph, but had very little luck. The only thing we accomplished was providing food for the mosquitoes.
