The Waterfront

Carol returned to Seattle on an early flight this morning. She had to get up at 4:30 a.m. to get packed up, drive to the airport, return the rental car, and catch her flight. I picked her up at Sea-Tac at 9:00, and we crashed as soon as we got back to the motorhome.

After lunch and another nap, we eventually drove down to the waterfront for sunset. We found a parking place to explore Myrtle Edwards Park and then wound our way south to the piers. The Mariners played the Blue Jays in an afternoon game, so we saw people wearing Blue Jay jerseys all up and down the boardwalk. It was another beautiful evening, so the waterfront was crowded. We walked all the way south past the Great Wheel as we looked for things to photograph. Then, as the lighting improved, we started back north; stopping at the best shooting locations we had identified earlier. Our favorite locagtion was on the top of the building overlooking Anthony's Pier 66 Restaurant. It provided a view of the Great Wheel with a small marina in the foreground. The Bell Street Bridge also provided a good view, but it was getting pretty dark by the time we shot there. We hiked the mile back to the Explorer and tried to find our way back home in the dark. I don't know what we would have done without our trusty GPS.
