2008 Rocky Mountains Trip

Sunday, September 14

Today was a travel day. We had 420 miles to drive, and it was all mountain driving. It was beautiful because we drove along the Flathead River, Flathead Lake, and Salmon River, but it was a long tough drive. The road was winding and narrow in many places. There wasn't any place where I could really relax on the entire drive. The only highlight of the drive was seeing five bighorn sheep shortly after the highway sign said to watch out for bighorn sheep next 2 1/2 miles.

We finally arrived in Stanley about 6:30 and got set up shortly before dark. The plan was to check out locations at Stanley Lake for sunset, but we ran out of time. Instead, we had dinner at the campground cafe.
