2011 Oregon Trip

Monday, July 18

It was back to work today. The weather seemed to mirror the mood. It had rained overnight and was completely overcast. The view of all the trees and the campground was the only redeeming factor.

Carol walked over to the Masters Garden that was right across from the campground. It was sponsored by one of the state universities and was maintained by local volunteers as a demonstration garden.

After work, we took a nap and then drove in to Roseburg to check it out. Roseburg has two distinctly different personalities; depending on what side of Interstate 5 you are on. We drove over to the east side to the historic downtown area. It was depressing. Many of the buildings were empty and the area seemed pretty run down. All the new growth was on the west side of town, including a Red Robin Restaurant. We missed Red Robin in Bend. We couldn't miss it again tonight.
