2014 Washington Trip

Thursday, July 24

Despite the prediction that today would be a transition day to tomorrow's sunshine, the day started with rain plinking on the roof. It never improved much from there. And what did we do with another day of gray? We went to the Outlet Mall. When I looked through the tourist brochures in the campground office, I discovered Seattle has its own premium outlets, and they were just up the I-5 from us.

Our original plan was to go to the outlets for the morning and then go to Pioneer Square for the afternoon after the sun returned. But when the sun showed no signs of breaking through, we ate lunch at Ram Restaurant and Brewery across from the mall. It was one of the best meals of our trip. We were re-energized and returned to the Outlet Mall for the remainder of the afternoon.

We timed our departure from the mall perfectly, so we could hit the afternoon rush hour traffic. Luckily, it was all going the opposite direction. We returned to camp and settled in for the evening. The weather forecast is for partly-cloudy skies tomorrow, so we may get a second chance at Pioneer Square and the Seattle Japanese Garden.
