On to Farmington

Today we crossed the high plateaus between Flagstaff, AZ, and Farmington, NM. The only real entertainment was provided by the Arizona Highway Patrol. They must need to generate more revenue to keep Flagstaff going. From 10 miles west of Flagstaff to 10 miles east of Flagstaff was one giant speed trap. We saw at least 10 Highway Patrol cars. At one point, three were queud up in the median ready to take their turn to write the next ticket. Even with the speed limit of 75, they had no problem finding "victims."

Tonight, we're spending our first night at the Mom & Pop RV Park in Farmington. And I mean in Farmington. The campground is off a side street in the middle of town. It's basically a parking lot with full hookups and showers. We'll spend very little time in camp, so it fits our needs. The new owners have only had the campground for a few months, but they seem very friendly and willing to help in any way they can.

Tomorrow, we start the real vacation with our first hike into the Bisti Wilderness.
