2018 Washington Trip

Selma, CA to Red Bluff, CA

Because we went to bed so early last night, we both woke up before 7:00 this morning, and we got an early start on the day. We continued up the Central Valley on Highway 99. The earlier start meant the temperatures were only in the low 90's most of the drive. We were definitely glad we had the A/C checked on the motorhome just before we left.

When we reached Red Bluff and our campsite at the Durango RV Resort, it was 104. The lady who led us to our campsite tried to reassure us by telling us it was going to get up to 109 by Sunday. That didn't make me feel any cooler. It was brutal. Even with both air conditioners running in the motorhome, it took about four hours to reach a comfortable temperature, and our refrigerator was barely keeping our food below the danger zone.

We'll be living out of our motorhome for the next 7 weeks, so we unpacked everything and got the motorhome organized. It's amazing how much stuff we have for this trip. We had to bring tourist clothes for Portland and Seattle, as well has hiking clothing and equipment for Mt. Rainier, Lassen, and Olympic National Parks. I'm guessing that we won't even wear 1/3 of the clothes we brought along.

It was too hot to grill and we were too lazy to make anything special for dinner, so we settled for salads and fruit.
