Red Bluff to Roseburg

It's still hot! We got up early today, got cleaned up, and were on the road by 9:00. We had a couple of hours below 90 degrees, but that didn't last long.

Today was one of the harder driving days because it was crossing pass after pass as we left California and entered Oregon. From the Oregon line, I think we crossed five major passes before we reached Roseburg. They were all in the 6% grade range, but the climbs seemed to be 10+ miles each to reach the top of the pass. The motorhome did great, but it had quite a workout.

Tonight, we're in the Twin Rivers RV Park, which is about 5 miles outside of Roseburg near the fork where the North and South Umpqua rivers come together. It's a small, quiet campground tucked into a grove of giant, mature shade trees. And since it was 100 degrees when we arrived, the shade was a very big deal.

The area surrounding the campground has changed dramatically since we were here in 2014. The entire area is now vineyards. A sign along the road where we turned toward the campground proclaimed it part of the vineyard tour route. It looks a lot like the wine area near Temecula, CA.
