Sahale Falls

Today dawned clear and warm. Last night's clouds were gone, and it was blue sky in every direction. It didn't look like we would have a reprieve from the heat.

In the late afternoon, we drove to Sahale Falls along the McKenzie River. We stopped here in 2011, but today I completely had my waterfalls mixed up. I think I had Salt Creek Falls mixed up with Sahale Falls. As it turned out, Sahale Falls was a bit of a surprise. That's happening more and more.

Koosah Falls

From Sahale Falls, we drove a couple of miles down river to Koosah Falls. We had somehow missed this falls in 2018. With a great viewpoint from near the bottom of the falls and a trail to the brink of the falls, it felt very much like Yosemite. Even the trees were similar, except that the firs and hemlock were taller here. It was too dark to photograph today, but now we have the area scouted for tomorrow.

When we returned to camp, it was obvious that a lot of families were getting an early start on the weekend. The campground was over half empty yesterday. It's starting to fill today, and it's only Thursday.
