2019 Oregon Trip

Lincoln City

The sky was completely overcast when we got up this morning. That made it a little easier to leave the Cannon Beach area. This part of the coast is beautiful, and we've had a couple of exceptional days here.

It was only a 70-mile drive to Lincoln City, but it was a very slow 70 miles. Parts of the highway were narrow and very uneven as we crossed the hills and valleys south to Lincoln City. We have the same campsite at the Premiere RV Resort as we had 8 years ago. We can sit in our motorhome and look out over Siletz Bay. Last time, we watched the July 4th fireworks from our campsite.

The sky was just as overcast here as at Cannon Beach, so we checked out the factory outlet mall and then bought groceries for the second half of the trip. "Grill Man" was grilling BBQ pork ribs outside the Safeway. We couldn't pass up BBQ ribs, so we had a feast for dinner.

After dinner, we drove to Boiler Bay for sunset. The sunset was mostly a dud, but we enjoyed watching the young whales that were in Boiler Bay and around the point. There were at least two whales, but they were small. We have since learned that whales are very common along the coast here, and Depoe Bay is the whale watching capital of Oregon.
