Moving Day

The first phase of our trip is over. Today, we left the mountain and waterfall section of the trip and moved to the Portland area to visit Matt, Jackie, Jayden, and Kira.

It was only about 100-mile drive from Trillium Lake to Sandy, Oregon, where we would spend the next week. We climbed over the shoulder of Mt. Hood and then dropped down into the forested valley of the Sandy River all the way to our campground. We're staying at the Sandy Riverfront RV Resort, which is right on the Sandy River. It was a beautiful and easy drive.

We reserved a campsite along Beaver Creek on one side of the campground that has lots of shade and more space between campsites. We've always stayed in this area, but this time we were assigned a campsite that we couldn't fit in. The power post and setup wouldn't work with our motorhome no matter what we tried. Site 191 must be avoided for future trips. We eventually got set up in a pull-through site down the center of the campground. There were two problems: it was 100 degrees, and we had no shade. With the A/C on full blast that was manageable. The second challenge is that we will have to change campsites on Tuesday.

We got the motorhome set up, ourselves cleaned up, and drove to Matt's. Jayden and Kira are 3 1/2 now and are no longer toddlers. They are little girls and FULL OF ENERGY. It's fascinating to watch them interact as twins. They are remarkably good together.
