Drive to Tulare
Today was the longest drive of the trip home, but it was also the easiest. We drove for 9 hours, but it was downhill the entire day. We didn't have to climb a single ridge or mountain today as we drove down the valley from Redding to Sacramento and then into the San Joaquin Valley to Tulare. The CHP is continuing a major widening project on Highway 99, so it was very rough in places and there were some very narrow lanes. But the areas that were finished are a huge improvement over what it used to be.
It was 100 degrees when he reached Tulare, so we were glad to check into our Best Western, turn on the A/C, and take a nap before our KFC dinner.
