Seattle

We woke up to the same fog and gray that we had the previous days here, but as we drove away from the coast and toward Seattle, we finally saw blue skies and sunshine. Our loop around the lower Olympic Peninsula toward I-5 was pretty slow and our five-hour drive turned into about 7. The biggest surprise was the traffic in Seattle. It was only about 3:00 and we took the I-405 to miss downtown traffic, but it was stop-and-go traffic nearly all the way from Olympia to Bothell (north of Seattle).

When we reached Lake Pleasant RV (our home away from home for the next 8 days), there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Our campsite is right on the lake and across the road from the showers and bathrooms. Our front windshield serves as our picture window on the lake. Perfect.

We got the motorhome set up, did some quick cleaning, ate "lunch," and immediately left to photograph the sunset and city lights from the Don Armeni ParkGoogle Earth Image area. With the forecast for rain and overcast skies, we figured we'd better take advantage of tonight. It was a good choice. Clouds on the western horizon obscured the sunset and deprived us of the golden light reflected off the downtown buildings. But then the lights came on across the city, the bay took on a deep-blue hue, and we were reminded of what a gorgeous city Seattle is at night. It was a beautiful night, so we sat on a bench, watched the ferries crossing from Bainbridge Island, and took photographs. By 9:45, the show was over so we drove back to our campsite and had dinner.
