The Wedding

The weather briefly threatened to "dampen" the mood for the wedding, but in the end everything went perfectly.

The skies were gray and overcast when we got up, and we started having visions of sitting in the rain for the wedding and reception. When we arrived at the vineyard for pictures, the breeze came up and showered everyone with flower petals from the surrounding trees. Just as the photographer was finishing the pre-wedding photos, it started to sprinkle.

As the time for the ceremony neared, the sky started clearing, and it turned into a very pleasant afternoon. Jackie's brother, Jessie, served as the officiant for the wedding and did a great job. Jackie had the most gorgeous wedding gown I have ever seen, and Matt couldn't stop smiling the entire day. They wrote their own vows that were a mixture of humor and very poignant promises. Matt and Jackie included a Dutch wine box and love letter ceremony, as well as the Jewish tradition of breaking a wine glass.

The reception was held in the Voorhies Mansion garden. The evening included heart-felt toasts, reminiscing about good times, delicious food, and an enthusiastic reggae band.

Janet, Jackie, and Wayne did a fabulous job of planning and getting everything set up for the wedding and reception. The final preparations were a team effort as Jackie's family pitched in to get everything done.
