Saying Goodbye

Frieda's funeral was held at the Groman Eden Memorial Park, which was about 20 minutes south of our campground. Frieda's sister Anne and two of her nieces (Carol and Pam) attended the funeral. Frieda's two sons passed away relatively young, but all five grandchildren from the New York area and one grandson from Phoenix were able to fly in and and attend. "Frieda's angels," the ladies that cared for her over the past four years, demonstrated once again how special they were by coming to Frieda's funeral.

Frieda was already in her late 80's when I first met her. She was immediately one of my favorite people. Frieda was the epitome of the strong, independent woman. She lived life on her terms, and you always knew what she thought about something. Even in her passing, Frieda went out on her own terms. She decided she was tired of being pricked and prodded. She was not going back to doctors and wasn't having any more tests run. At 102, Frieda was ready to go.

After the funeral and luncheon, we returned to the campground, picked up the motorhome, and continued north to our favorite Best Western in Tulare. They have a huge parking area to park the motorhome and Explorer, good rates, good facilities, and one of the best breakfasts of any of the motels. We stay here on almost all of our trips north.
