Preparing for Part II

We slept in this morning and then finished up our laundry. We had accumulated a lot of dirty clothes in 4 weeks. We were thrilled to have clean clothes for the second half of our trip.

By the time we were ready to go grocery shopping, Lilly was home from kindergarten, and she wanted to join us. We had a quick trip to Costco, and then a very L-O-N-G expedition to the Smith's grocery store. We didn't know where anything was, and it was laid out very differently from our stores. Through it all, Lilly was very patient with us and kept us entertained. I think we all three got tired of shopping about the same time. We were glad to get home.

Carol re-packaged all our food purchases and re-stocked the motorhome while I tried to figure out where to go next. It's been raining on and off most of our time in Salt Lake City. There have been flash flood watches in the Moab area, and rain is predicted through Thursday in our next destinations. Because all our plans include driving dirt roads, that creates a challenge. We finally decided that we will drive to Green River tomorrow and see what the weather promises. From there, we can either go 50 miles east to Moab where there are more paved and maintained roads, or we can drive 96 miles southwest to Capitol Reef and hope they had less rain.

Our final "stop" in Salt Lake City was Mountain Mike's Pizza. We had a feast! We had enough pizza for 8, and it was delicious. Pizza is rarely on our travel menu, so this was a treat. And, we have pizza leftovers for the coming days.
