2016 Morro Bay Trip

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we took a tour of one of the best kept secrets of the Central Coast--the Point San Luis Lighthouse near Avila Beach. You can't visit the lighthouse on your own because you have to cross Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant land to reach the lighthouse. A trolley takes you up a very narrow road with sheer drop-offs over a ridge to the lighthouse on the other side of the mountain. The style of the lighthouse was very unique. It looked more like a New England bed and breakfast than a lighthouse. The preservation society has done an excellent job of preserving and restoring the lighthouse, and the tour was well worth the time.

We returned to Morro Bay after the tour to shoot sunset near Morro Rock. The half moon was also arcing across the southern sky, so we got a "twofer."
