2019 Oregon Trip

Friday, July 12

The weather pattern continued with completely overcast skies. We haven't seen blue skies in the morning for a couple of weeks. By mid-morning, we started seeing some patches of blue that offered promise of good shooting. When we reached Face Rock Wayside Park, there were beautiful swirling clouds, but the sun was shining through a thin veil of cirrus clouds most of the time. Still...it looked promising as we waited for low tide at 3:00.

And then, at 2:00, the fog bank that had been lurking just off-shore (like every other day), rolled in and the sun was gone for the remainder of the day (just like every other day). We're getting very tired of this pattern...

We killed some time running a couple of errands before driving back to Coquille Point to see if there was any hope of decent lighting--there wasn't. The only interesting thing was a giant 6' tall Puffin "statue" made out of trash that had been collected from area beaches. It was very creative and very sad at the same time.

Bandon Beach

It was Flea Market Day in Old Town Bandon, so we walked around the flea market and checked out the few shops that were in the area. Out of options, we drove back to camp.

The only high point of the day was our grilled salmon dinner. If we didn't already have all the reservations made and paid for, I think we would consider coming home a couple weeks early. Three or four hours of sunlight on a good day isn't doing it for us.
